Privacy Policy
Screwge handles construction evidence, compliance documents, and payment records. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, who can see it, where it is stored, and how long we keep it — in plain language.
1. Who operates Screwge
Screwge is an early-stage product built and operated by its founding team in India. Screwge is not yet incorporated as a company. Until incorporation is complete, the founders act as the point of contact for all privacy matters. We will update this section with the registered legal entity name and address once incorporation is complete.
Privacy contact: contactscrewge@gmail.com.
2. What we collect
We collect only what the workflow needs. Broadly:
- Account information — name, email, phone, and role, to create accounts, send invites, and notify you.
- Company information — your organization's details, to set up your workspace.
- Project information — projects, assignments, and who is responsible for what.
- Site photos and videos — evidence of work on site.
- Voice recordings — field notes attached to updates.
- Contracts and BOQs — work and payment scope documents.
- Compliance documents — GST, insurance, licences, and statutory documents.
- Identity documents — where required, PAN and Aadhaar/KYC documents (see Section 4).
- Bank / payment information — bank proof and payment references used to record payments (see Section 5).
- Device and security information — logins and activity, to secure your account.
- AI-generated analyses — outputs produced when we process your evidence (see Section 6).
3. Why we collect each type
Under the DPDP framework, consent must be specific and tied to a stated purpose. We do not collect data "to improve our services" in the abstract. Each category has a purpose:
| Data | Purpose | Storage | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| Name, email, phone, role | Account creation, invites, notifications | Managed database (Supabase) | Account lifetime + short post-termination window |
| Site photographs and videos | Document reported construction progress for authorized review | Private storage, access via time-limited signed links | Customer-controlled; removed from production after a deletion window |
| Voice notes | Field documentation and transcription for the record | Private storage + AI processor (transient) | Defined period |
| Compliance documents | Track documentation requirements and payment readiness | Private storage, signed links | Purpose / statutory period |
| Identity documents (PAN, Aadhaar/KYC) | Verify the authorized person (see Section 4) | Private storage, restricted access | Minimized — see Section 4 |
| Bank proof and payment references | Prepare, track, and record payment workflows | Private storage / database | Delete when no longer needed unless legally required |
| AI inputs and outputs | Structure updates, compare submitted records, flag inconsistencies, prepare payment documents | Screwge infrastructure + AI provider (transient) | Minimum technically necessary |
| Login / activity logs | Security and accountability | Managed database and platform logs | Per security policy |
4. Identity documents and Aadhaar
Screwge does not store raw Aadhaar or PAN numbers as data fields. Any typed reference number is masked before it is stored. Where an identity document is required, it is uploaded as a document to private, access-controlled storage.
5. Payments — Screwge does not move money
Screwge does not hold, receive, custody, or transfer customer funds. Screwge helps you verify work, organize supporting evidence, determine payment readiness, and record payment workflows. Actual payments are executed through your own bank or payment provider. Bank details and payment references are collected only to prepare and record these workflows.
6. Artificial Intelligence processing
Screwge may use artificial intelligence systems to analyse information submitted through the platform — including photographs, documents, project information, and voice inputs — for purposes such as structuring site updates, comparing submitted records, identifying potential inconsistencies, and preparing payment-related documentation. AI processing happens on our infrastructure and through our AI provider.
AI-generated outputs are intended to assist users and should not be treated as independent certification of physical work or a final payment decision. A human always makes the final approval and payment decision.
7. Who can see your data
Access is scoped to your organization. Users see only the organizations, projects, and records they are authorized to access; nothing is shared across accounts. Screwge personnel access data only as needed to operate and support the service. See our Security page for the controls behind this.
8. Your rights
You can:
- Access — request a copy of your data.
- Correct — request correction of inaccurate information.
- Delete — request erasure of your data.
- Raise a grievance — contact us about how your data is handled.
You can delete your account yourself, from inside the app — on mobile under Profile → Delete account, and on the web app under Settings → Danger Zone → Delete account. What survives that deletion is described in section 9.
To exercise any of the other rights, or to raise a grievance, email contactscrewge@gmail.com. We are building the remaining controls directly into the product under Settings; until then, we handle those requests over email. You can also reach us through our Support page.
9. Data retention and deletion
We retain information only for as long as necessary to provide the service, satisfy customer-configured retention requirements, maintain security, and meet applicable legal obligations. Different categories of information have different retention periods. When a purpose ends or consent is withdrawn, we delete the associated personal data unless retention remains necessary under law.
When you delete a document, it is removed from active Screwge systems. Certain copies may remain temporarily in encrypted backups before automatic expiration.
What happens when you delete your account
You can delete your account at any time from inside the app (see section 8). When you do:
- We remove your personal data. Your login is deleted and you can no longer sign in. Your name, phone number, profile photo, and personal contact details are erased from our active systems, and your email address is replaced with a non-identifying placeholder.
- We keep an anonymised record of completed commercial activity. Records of work that was assigned, submitted, verified, certified, or paid — including bills, payment history, approved assignments, and the evidence attached to them — are retained, but they are no longer linked to you as an identifiable person.
Why we keep those records. On a construction project these are the contractor's books, not only yours. Indian tax, labour, and contract law require the contractor to retain proof of work done and payments made for a number of years, and a completed bill cannot be un-issued because one party later closes their account. Deleting them would remove the other party's statutory records and destroy the audit trail that the payment was legitimate. We therefore retain the commercial record in anonymised form and delete the personal data attached to it. This retention is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation and for the establishment or defence of legal claims.
Deletion takes effect in active systems immediately. Encrypted backups are overwritten on their normal expiry cycle. If you want confirmation once your deletion has completed, or you believe something identifying you remains, email contactscrewge@gmail.com.
10. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy as the product and applicable law evolve, and we will change the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated in-product or by email.
